Coliseum Classics Volume 2: WWF Wrestlefest 1990

Introduction:
Welcome everyone to the second edition of Coliseum Classics. I am your host Lord Mooneyham and I am here to take you down memory lane as we review Coliseum Home Videos. Today we are going back to 1990 and Wrestlefest. This tape should be loaded with great content and I can’t wait to get started. So, lets get to the action.

WWF Action Figure Commercials:

These are the best commercials of all time. Jesse hyping the figures and the wrestlers coming in and actually playing with the figures. It’s awesome. They hype the new Jake Roberts, Ted DiBiase, Andre The Giant, and Ultimate Warrior figures. They then go to another commercial showing off the big blue hasbro ring. They show Brutus and Savage going at it in the ring. They then show Akeem go after Smash. Lastly, they show Rude dropping the Rude Awakening on Jake then Jake shows up with Damien draped over his back.

Show Opening:

Sean Mooney opens up the show running through the card. We will have Randy Savage vs. Roddy Piper in the Coliseum Match of the Month. The WWF Magazine will bring us Brutus Beefcake vs. Rick Martel. Fan Favorite match will be Ultimate Warrior vs. Dino Bravo. The WWF profile will take an in depth look at the Hart Foundation. Lord Alfred Hayes will go through and show all of the trucks that are used to keep the WWF going on the road. The feature match up will be Hulk Hogan vs. Mr. Perfect for the WWF Title. Manager profile will feature Mr. Fuji. The main event will feature Ted DiBiase/Akeem vs. Jake Roberts/Ultimate Warrior featuring a special guest referee in the Big Boss Man.

Match 1: Match of the Month: ‘Macho King’ Randy Savage vs. ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper

Before the match starts Savage takes off his entrance gear while Piper just stands in the middle of the ring and doesn’t move. Savage sits up on the top rope while Sherri goes over to Piper and looks up his kilt. Sherri puts the kilt down and starts laughing then Piper decides to slap Sherri on the ass as Sherri gets upset. Sherri swings at Piper a couple of times then tries to kick him but Piper dodges all of them. He then grabs Sherri’s leg and sends her falling to the mat. Piper goes after Sherri and while he is doing this Savage comes off the top rope and hits Piper in the back with an ax handle.

Savage then whips Piper into the ropes but Piper reverses it and hits Savage with a clothesline. Piper tries to pick up Savage but Savage rakes the eyes then tries to ram Piper head first into the turnbuckle. Piper blocks it and rams Savage into the turnbuckle himself. Piper then hits Savage with an atomic drop then another clothesline and he goes for the pin and gets a 2 count. Sherri gets up on the apron to distract Piper but Piper doesn’t fall for it and hits Savage with a clothesline who tries to attack him from behind.

Piper then goes for a sunset flip on Savage and gets a 2 count. Both men get up and Savage levels Piper with an elbow. Savage goes for another move but Piper gets him in an inside cradle for another 2 count. Both men roll out of the ring and Savage takes off but Piper goes after him and throws him in to the ring. Piper tries to get in the ring but Sherri hits Piper in the back. This distracts Piper again and Savage comes off the top rope with a double ax handle on the outside. Savage throws Piper back into the ring and he goes back up to the top rope and comes down with a double ax handle again on Piper. Savage goes for the pin and gets a 2 count. Savage then picks up Piper and grabs him by the head then runs and jumps over the top rope and clotheslines him using the top rope.

Savage gets back in the ring and drives a running knee to the back of Piper who goes flying outside. Savage goes back up to the top and drops another double ax handle to Piper on the outside. Savage gets in the ring to distract the ref so Sherri can lay in a punch on Piper. Savage drags Piper back up to the apron and lays in a big right hand that sends Piper back down to the floor. Savage has the ref distracted again and Sherri lays in a kick to the back of the neck of Piper. Piper gets back in the ring and Savage snap mares him then drops a knee and goes for the cover. He gets a 2 count. Savage then starts choking Piper and tries to pin him and only gets a 1 count. He does this again and again gets a 1 count. Savage puts Piper in a sleeper hold but Piper gets out of it rather quickly. Piper comes off the ropes and hits Savage with another clothesline. Piper then decks Savage with a huge right hand.

Piper drives Savage into the corner and lays in 8-10 left and rights. Piper then irish whips Savage into the turnbuckle as Savage flips over and gets hung up on the top rope upside down in the corner. Piper comes in and lysin the boots to Savage. Piper then chokes him and this gets the ref to back off of Savage. Piper starts stalking Savage as Savage begs him off. Savage tries to get out of the ring but Piper grabs Savage by the legs and drags him back in then drops a kick to the midsection. Piper then picks up Savage and gets him in an airplane spin then dumps him on the ground. Piper is groggy but he ends up falling on Savage and gets a 2 count. Piper picks up Savage for a bodyslam but Savage reverses it and gets a 2 count. Savage then picks up Piper and gets him in his own airplane spin. Savage is going faster and a lot longer than Piper. Savage puts Piper down and Savage falls over himself. Savage gets up really groggy but he goes up to the top rope anyways and he falls right off the top rope.

Piper gets up and jumps off the apron with an ax handle to Savage. Piper then lays in the right hands to Savage on the outside. Piper tries to slam Savage’s head into the apron but both men are still a little dizzy from the airplane spins. Sherri then jumps on the back of Piper to get him off Savage. Piper pulls Savage outside but Savage drops him with a right hand while Piper still has Sherri on his back. Savage gets back in the ring and raises his hand in the air as if he won but the ref calls for the bell to end the match. Piper gets up on the apron and tries to get back in the ring but Savage hits him with a knee to the stomach then pulls Piper back in. Piper gets Savage in the sleeper hold after the match.

Sherri gets into the ring and pushes Piper trying to get him off of Savage. Piper lets go of Savage and he turns his attention to Sherri. Piper grabs Sherri and Piper puts her into a sleeper hold. Savage then hits Piper in the back with a knee and Sherri falls down. Her dress comes up and there is a great shot of Sherri’s ass in a thong. Sherri was really hot if it wasn’t for all of the makeup and she looked really great here in this match. Plus a thong shot in 1990 in the WWF? Sign me up. The camera man zoomed in on the ass shot as well which is really rare for this time in the WWF. Meanwhile, both Piper and Savage are brawling in the turnbuckle and when Sherri gets up Piper takes Savage and rams both of them into each other. Piper then goes outside and grabs his leather belt and lays it in to the back of Randy Savage. Savage crawls out of the ring and crawls up the aisle. They never announce the outcome of the match as we head back to Sean Mooney.

Recap:
This was a pretty entertaining match. Savage’s offense was awesome like always. I loved the airplane spin spot that both men did. Savage sold it really well and he even fell to the outside off of the top rope. Thats what made Savage so great. He was willing to do whatever it took to make himself stand out or his matches stand out. Sherri did awesome as well like she always did. She gave it everything that she had every night she was out there. She never took a break and went 100 mph. The best part about is that she would get heat on her wrestler and not herself. I feel like more people were made at Savage because he was good enough to not have somebody like Sherri help him win matches but he used her anyways and this made people hate him even more. Overall, a pretty solid entertaining match that I would recommend checking out.

Promo by Dino Bravo and Jimmy Hart

Jimmy Hart says the fan asked for it and him and the Ultimate Warrior are going to get it. Dino Bravo says that anyone who gets in the ring with him will get and that it includes you Ultimate Warrior.

Promo by Ultimate Warrior

Warrior says that the fan is the only one who can command the viewing on Coliseum Video of his destruction of Dino Bravo.

Match 2: Fan Favorite Match: Ultimate Warrior vs. Dino Bravo

Dino Bravo makes his way down the ring with both Jimmy Hart and Earthquake by his side. Ultimate Warrior comes charging to the ring tries to hit Bravo with a clothesline but Bravo ducks and hits the ropes but he ends up getting power slammed for his troubles. Warrior goes the top rope and hits Bravo with a double ax handle. Warrior is going back up to the top but Earthquake grabs him by the foot and prevents him from being able to do anything. Warrior chases Earthquake on the outside of the ring. Bravo hits Warrior from behind but it doesn’t phase Warrior at all.

They get back in the ring and Bravo tries to shoulder block Warrior but Warrior doesn’t budge. Warrior then hits Bravo with a hip toss. Warrior follows that up with a body slam. Warrior is about to hit the ropes but Earthquake grabs him by the leg long enough for Bravo to clothesline him out fo the ring. The warrior then crawls under the ring and comes out the other side. I love this spot because it’s so easy to get the crowd going with it. The Warrior ends up grabbing Jimmy Hart and pulls him under the ring with him. Hart and Warrior both come out from under the ring and Jimmy Hart came out with his pants off. Warrior gorilla presses him then throws him at Earthquake. Warrior tries to get in the ring but Bravo hits him with a knee to the midsection. Warrior then pulls Bravo outside of the ring and hits him with a couple of chops.

Warrior gets Bravo back in the ring and hits him with a right hand. Warrior irish whips Bravo but Bravo reverses it then he lowers his head but Warrior doesn’t fall for it and ends up getting Bravo with a nice looking suplex. Warrior is doing a lot of different wrestling moves this match and it’s pretty good to see. Surprised he would waste it on a guy like Bravo though. Warrior comes off the ropes and goes for his big splash but Bravo gets the knees up and gets control of the match. Bravo clubs the Warrior in the back a couple of times then gets him in a knuckle lock. Warrior the fights back and gets up to his feet. Warrior then kicks Bravo 3-4 times and backs Bravo into the turnbuckle. Warrior then whips Bravo into the other turnbuckle and charges in after him but Bravo moves out of the way and Warrior hits his head on the turnbuckle. Bravo then picks up the Warrior and dumps him with a belly to back suplex.

Bravo gets up to his feet first and when the Warrior gets up, Bravo gets him in a bear hug. Warrior breaks out of the bear hug with a club to the neck area. Warrior then gets Bravo in his own bear hug but Bravo rakes him in the eyes and breaks the hold. Bravo then hits Warrior with an atomic drop. He follows that up with a leg drop but the Warrior rolls out of the way. Warrior then picks up Bravo and hits him with a body slam and afterwards Warrior shows the pain in his lower back area. Bravo gets up and hits a knee to the back of the Warrior that sends him outside. Earthquake then picks up the Warrior and bodyslams him on the outside and throws him back into the ring. Bravo then picks up Warrior and hits him with a side suplex but the Warrior kicks out at 2.

Warrior starts to throw his fists in the air then he starts shaking the ropes while Bravo hits him with ax handles to the back that are doing nothing to the Warrior. Warrior then takes Bravo’s head and slams it into his chest. What the hell kind of garbage move is that? Warrior then hits him with 3-4 clotheslines then he hits him with his big splash. When Warrior goes for the pin Earthquake gets in the ring and breaks that up to cause the disqualification .Warrior is trying to take on both Bravo and Earthquake but Earthquake gets the upper hand and drops the big elbow on Warrior after he body slams him. Earthquake hits him with a second elbow then drags the Warrior closer to the turnbuckle. Earthquake goes up to the middle rope like he was going to jump on him but Hulk Hogan comes out and prevents that from happening. Hogan punches Earthquake and sends him crashing to the outside.

Recap:
This was a pretty good match all around. There weren’t a lot of long rest holds and Warrior actually broke out some pretty good wrestling moves. There wasn’t a ton of outside of interference that you would expect from a Jimmy Hart & Earthquake combo on the outside. Bravo didn’t look like trash and Warrior came to work. Pretty good match that I would recommend checking out. I am pretty sure this match aired on Superstars because Hogan came out to save the Warrior so he wouldn’t get hurt prior to their Wrestlemania 6 match. Therefore, this match should be readily available if you want to watch it.

Managers Profile: Mr. Fuji

Mr. Fuji says he teaches his teams to be devious and to teach their opponents to suffer. Fuji says he is happy when his opponents are suffering. Fuji says he brings his teams to his dojo and makes them do 2-3,000 squats and run 20-30 miles. Fuji says he will whack them with his cain and that makes them listen to him. Fuji wants to make his opponents scream and suffer and choke them and make their eyeballs pop out. Fuji says he loves it when eyeballs suffer.

Promo by Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake

Brutus says that Martel thinks that he is so good looking and that all of the ladies are falling over him. Brutus says that the barber shop is open and Martel is the main guest. Brutus says that Martel won’t leave as pretty as he came in.

Promo by Rick ‘The Model’ Martel

Martel says that he is so much better than Beefcake. Martel says that everyone on Coliseum Video will get to see see what he’s talking about and that whenever he says something he backs it up. Martel says he has the goods to back it all up. Martel says that when he is through Beefcake he will smell the sweet smell of victory and it’s Arrogance and he loves it.

Match 3: Rick ‘The Model’ Martel vs. Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake

Brutus comes down to the ring and gets on the apron where Martel confronts him. Brutus gets into the ring and Brutus chases him down with the scissors and Martel hightails it out of the ring. Martel says he doesn’t want to get back into the ring into the scissors are gone from ringside. Martel then gets on the middle rope and shows off his physique. Brutus shows off his physique and they do this a few times to get the crowd going before the match even starts. Brutus tells Martel that he can kiss his ass then Martel charges at Brutus but gets hit with a hip toss.

Martel gets up again and Beefcake hits him with a bodyslam. Brutus whips Martel in the ropes to go for the sleeper hold but Martel holds onto the ropes and crawls to the outside. Martel sticks out his hand for a hand shake. Brutus thinks about it for a moment then ends up shaking his hand but kicks him in the midsection after doing so. Martel then goes to the turnbuckle and Brutus goes up for the 10 punches. Brutus comes off the ropes and Martel does a leap frog and goes for a reverse monkey flip but Brutus stops and steps on the face of Martel.

Brutus goes up to the middle rope to do the 10 punches again but Martel carries him out and hits Brutus with an atomic drop. Martel then comes over and starts to choke Brutus while he lays on the mat. Martel lays in some boots to the back fo Brutus. Martel puts Brutus in a side headlock then nails a right hand to the throat. Martel hits him in the throat again. Brutus falls to the mat and Martel starts choking him again. Martel gets Brutus in a snap mare then a chin lock. Brutus nearly gets out of it but Martel grabs the tights and gets Brutus back on the mat. Martel lets go of the chin lock and starts choking Brutus again he then puts him back into the reverse chin lock. Brutus finally breaks out of the chin lock with a couple of elbows to the midsection. Brutus then comes off the ropes and hits a shoulder block. He goes for another one but Martel hits him with a knee to the midsection.

Martel drops a knee to the chest and goes for the pin and gets a 2 count. Martel lays in a couple of kicks and punches to Brutus while he was down. Martel then goes for a body slam on Martel but Brutus turns it into an inside cradle and Brutus nearly gets the 3 count but Martel kicks out. Martel picks up Brutus and gets him with a backbreaker. You can tell he is working over the back getting him ready for the Boston crab at some point. Martel goes up to the top rope but Brutus gets up and starts shaking the ropes. Martel then falls down and racks himself on the top rope. Brutus goes up and lays in 10 punches to Martel again. Brutus then goes over and lays in one last right hand and Martel flips back into the ring.

Brutus gets Martel in an atomic drop then he follows it up with another one. Brutus then clotheslines Martel to the outside of the ring. This match has been pretty solid thus far. It seems that way when you are skipping the majority of the rest hold. Brutus goes to the outside and slams Martel’s face to the apron then pokes Martel in the eye. Brutus goes for the sunset flip and Martel drops down on him and grabs the top rope and gets the 3 count.

After the match is over Brutus explains to the ref what happened and how Martel won. Danny Davis then confronts Martel with it and it infuriates Martel. Martel then charges at Brutus and he tries to hit him with a punch but Brutus reverses it and lays in his own punch. Brutus then gets Martel into the sleeper hold and Martel goes out. Brutus says he is now going to cut the hair of Rick Martel. Brutus is about to cut the hair of Martel but Heenan runs down to the ring and throws water on Rick Martel to wake him up.

Recap:
I’m not sure if this match was good or if it was because I skipped through the majority of the garbage at the beginning and the rest holds in the middle. If you take that part out you have a good match but if you leave that stuff in it goes a little to long for my liking. The action, when it got going, was entertaining because of how great Martel was. He was so good at getting a reaction from fans and the Model gimmick was perfect for him. If you skip the the beginning and the rest holds you can enjoy this match, if you watch it all then you might regret it.

Coliseum Video Profile: The Hart Foundation

The Hart Foundation open up the profile with a promo. Bret says that they would be happy to do a profile for Coliseum Video. However, Neidhart interrupts him and says “do I look happy” then just starts yelling that he’s not happy because they don’t have the belts. Bret says take a breath and take it easy. Bret then says that the belts will come in due time and that they need to wait. Bret introduces the next month and says that the Powers of Pain are two of the biggest and baddest but obviously not bad enough for the Hart Foundation.

Match 4: The Hart Foundation vs. Powers of Pain

The match starts out with Jim Neidhart vs. Barbarian. They do a chest to chest stare down. Barbarian pushes Neidhart then Neidhart pushes Barbarian back. Barbarian then comes in kicks Neidhart in the midsection. Neidhart pushes Barbarian into the ropes and Barbarian comes in with a big shoulder block but neither man moves. Barbarian then turns around and does the same thing and this time the Barbarian doesn’t budge. They get in a collar and elbow tie up and Barbarian throws Neidhart into the Warlord who holds Neidhart up. Barbarian comes in and goes for a clothesline but Neidhart moves out of the way and hits the Warlord with it and knocks him off the apron.

Neidhart then rolls up the Barbarian but gets a 2 count. Neidhart then runs the Barbarians head into the boot of Bret Hart who gets the tag. Bret comes in and lays in the right hands to the Barbarian. Barbarian gets up off the mat and hits Bret with a knee to the midsection. Bret goes off the ropes and when he does he tags in Neidhart and when Bret comes back around to Barbarian he slides under his legs and Neidhart comes in and nails the Barbarian with a big clothesline. Bret then comes off the middle rope with his elbow then Neidhart goes for the pin and gets a 2 count. Neidhart then gets the Barbarian in an arm bar. Neidhart tags in Bret and he starts working the arm as well.

Barbarian then picks up Bret, who had him in an arm bar, and body slams Bret. Barbarian makes the tag to the Warlord and he comes in and goes for an elbow on Bret. Bret moves out of the way and then he gets him in an arm bar himself. He goes over and tags in Neidhart and he starts working the same arm as well. Neidhart tags Bret back in and he comes in to work the arm as well. Not sure you want to work the arms of the Powers of Pain, it doesn’t make a lot of sense. Why wouldn’t you go for the legs and keep them on the mat? Warlord misses a charging shoulder block in the corner on Bret. Bret then tags in Neidhart and he comes in and gets him in yet another arm bar. Barbarian comes in to distract the ref and Bret comes in and swaps out on the arm. Warlord gets tired of it and picks up Bret and drops him with a back breaker.

Warlord then clubs the forearm into the back of Bret. Warlord tags in the Barbarian who comes in and hits Bret with flying head butt in the lower back. Barbarian then whips Bret into the ropes and nails him with a big time boot to the face. Barbarian had one of the best big boots in the business and guys always sold it very well for him. Barbarian then goes over and nails Neidhart with a big boot to the face while he was standing on the apron. Neidhart gets heated and comes into the ring to distract the ref and while this is going on Barbarian and Warlord choke out Bret over the top rope. Barbarian then chokes Bret with his boot while laying on the mat. Warlord gets the tag in and he nails Bret with an ax handle to the back. Warlord clubs Bret in the back again with the forearm.

Warlord tags in the Barbarian again and he comes off the middle rope with a head butt to the lower back. Barbarian charges in to the corner and Bret hits him with a boot to the face. Bret then crawls over to make the tag and makes it. Neidhart comes in and clubs the Barbarian with forearms. Warlord comes in he gets hit with the forearms as well. Neidhart then does a shoulder block to the Warlord. Neidhart goes to pin Warlord and the Barbarian goes to break it up but ends up dropping the elbow on the Warlord instead of Neidhart. Neidhart was going to go off the ropes but Fuji trips him up. Warlord then drops an ax handle to the back of Neidhart. All four men are brawling on the outside. Warlord is holding up Neidhart and Fuji goes to hit him with the cain but Neidhart moves out of the way and the Warlord ends up getting nailed with the cain. Neidhart crawls back into the ring as the Hart Foundation win by count out.

After the match is over the Warlord gets into the ring with the cain and he is about to level Neidhart with it but Bret gets in and stops him. Bret then picks up the cain and he nails the Powers of Pain with it numerous times before they leave the ring.

Recap:
This match was all right. Nothing terrible but nothing special either. The Harts were acting like the heels at the start of the match and a lot of their offense didn’t make sense. They worked the arm the whole time they had control of the match and that made zero sense when you are fighting guys the size of the Powers of Pain. Work the leg or back or something along those lines but the arm? Get out of here. The Powers of Pain worked the back of Bret the majority of the time and that made sense to a degree. You had your typical garbage finish that was custom during this time so you can’t really get upset about that. Overall, not that good of a match. I would skip it.

Match 5: The Hart Foundation vs. Honky Tonk Man & Dino Bravo

The match starts with Bret and Bravo in the ring. They get into a collar and elbow tie up then Bret gets Bravo in a head lock. Bravo pushes him out of the hold and nails him with a big time shoulder block. Bravo goes to pick Bret up but Bret rolls him up and gets a 2 count. Bret comes in and gets hit in the stomach by Bravo. Bravo lays in a few more kicks and punches to the mid section. Bravo irish whips Bret into the rope but Bret floats over and he pushes him into the ropes and Neidhart nails Bravo with a big clothesline. Bret follows that up with a big clothesline of his own and it sends Bravo packing to the mat. Bret goes for the cover and gets a 2 count.

Bret hits the ropes then gets Bravo in a Lou Thesz press for a 2 count again. Bret then hits Bravo with a drop kick and this sends Bravo over to the corner to tag in the Honky Tonk Man. Bret greets Honky Tonk with a couple of right hands. Bret then irish whips Honky Tonk into the ropes but Honky Tonk reverses it and he tries to kick Bret in the mid section but Bret grabs his foot and trips him up. Bret then drags Honky Tonk into the corner of the Hart Foundation and he tags in Neidhart. Neidhart grabs the other leg and they do the wish bone on the Honky Tonk Man.

Neidhart then rams Honky Tonk’s head into the corner then he lays in 5 shoulder blocks to Honky Tonk and he just falls on to his face. Neidhart then irish whips Honky Tonk man into the ropes and he gets the Honky Tonk Man into a bear hug. This match is already far and above better than the last match. Theres a lot of action so far and not just working over a useless body part. Honky rakes the eyes of Neidhart and he tags in Bravo. Bravo comes in and attacks Neidhart and he eventually gets him in an atomic drop to gain control of the match. Bravo then goes over and attacks Bret who comes charging into the ring after Bravo but the ref stops Bret from doing anything. Meanwhile, Bravo and Honky Tonk hit a double elbow on Neidhart with the refs back turned.

Honky Tonk is in the ring and he hits a double ax handle to the back then drops 4 knees to the chest of Neidhart. Bravo gets tagged in and he kicks Neidhart in the chest as well. He gets the quick tag back into Honky Tonk and he comes in and drops and elbow on Neidhart. Honky Tonk then gets a camel clutch looking move on Neidhart. Neidhart gets up and he tries to break free but Honky Tonk nails him with a big knee. Honky quickly makes the tag to Bravo who comes in and clubs Neidhart in the back then body slams Neidhart and goes for a cover but gets a 2. Bravo then tags in Honky Tonk Man who comes in and drops a few more elbows to Neidhart.

Another tag into Bravo who comes in and body slams Neidhart. Bravo hits the ropes and drops a big elbow on Neidhart then tags in Honky Tonk Man again. Honky comes off the ropes and he tries to drop a fist on Neidhart but he misses and Neidhart gets the tag to Bret. Bret comes in and clubs Honky Tonk Man in the midsection. He then drops him with a body slam then drops and elbow on him. Bravo comes in and tries to help Honky Tonk but gets nailed with a drop kick. Bret then hits Honky in the midsection then rolls him up for a 2 count. Bret then body slams Honky Tonk then drops an elbow on him. Bret goes for the pin but Bravo comes in and breaks it up.

All four men are in the ring brawling . The Harts irish whips them into each other but it ends up being Honky Tonk and Bret running into each other. The ref tries to get Neidhart out of the ring and Jimmy Hart throws the mega phone into the ring. Neidhart nails Honky Tonk and Bravo with the megaphone. Dino Bravo and the Honky Tonk Man win the match by a disqualification.

Recap:
This was a fun match to watch. The combination of Dino Bravo and Honky Tonk Man worked pretty well together. It matched up well with the Hart Foundation with the two power guys and the two smaller guys. There wasn’t many rest holds and the action kept going. The finish was eh but nothing more to expect from 1990 WWF like I have mentioned before. I would recommend checking out the match if you haven’t seen it before.

Match 6: The Hart Foundation vs. The Rockers

Bret and Marty start off the match. This arena is extremely dark and small. It looks odd for the time period but I like it. The match starts with the collar and elbow tie up and Bret backs Marty into the ropes. They get the clean break and then do it again. Marty gets Bret into a headlock. Bret goes for an elbow off the ropes but Marty goes low and hits Bret with a big cross body. Marty then gets Bret in an arm bar and starts working the arm over. Bret reverses it and Marty quickly gets the tag to Shawn. Shawn comes off the top rope and drops the ax handle to the arm of Bret.

Shawn comes in and continues to work on the left arm of Bret. Bret gets back up to his feet and reverses the arm bar but Shawn quickly reverses it back. He then sends Bret into the ropes and he goes for a leap frog and he tries it again but Bret catches him and he drops Shawn with an atomic drop. Bret then goes over and tags in Neidhart. Jim comes in and body slams Shawn and goes for the pin but gets a 2 count. Neidhart picks up Shawn and irish whips him to ropes. Neidhart drops low and Bret nails Shawn in the lower back when Shawn hits the ropes again. Bret then comes in with the ref distracted and drops Shawn with a back breaker. Bret picks up Shawn and drives his head into Neidhart’s boot. Neidhart gets the tag again and he comes in and snap mares Shawn and gets him in a reverse chin lock.

Shawn gets out of the chin lock and hits the ropes but Neidhart catches him and he gets him in a bear hug. Neidhart then drops him in the corner and lays in a few shoulder blocks before tagging in Bret. Bret comes in and whips Shawn into the ropes and he goes for a side suplex but Shawn flips out of it and then body slams Bret. Both men are laid out on the mat. That was a pretty sweet looking move that Shawn did. Bret gets up first and he drops an elbow to the back of Shawn’s head. Bret then hits Shawn with a head butt that sends him to the turnbuckle. Bret comes in slowly but Shawn hits him with a kick. They then trade right hands before Bret gets the upper hand and tags in Neidhart.

Neidhart comes in and nails Shawn with a drop kick. He goes for the pin and only gets a 2 count. Neidhart then whips Shawn into the ropes and he nails him with a MASSIVE back body drop. Shawn goes flying into the air and it looks like he is going to crash hard but he gets flipped over on time and it looked amazing. Neidhart goes for another pin and only gets a 2 count. Neidhart tags in Bret and he comes in and snap mares Shawn then drops and elbow across the throat to Shawn. Bret picks up Shawn and hits him with a body slam. Bret tags in Neidhart and they go for a slingshot splash but Shawn rolled out of the way but Neidhart was able to get the tag again.

Bret whips Shawn into the corner but Shawn reverses it and comes charging in at Bret. Bret gets his boot up and sends Shawn down. Bret goes up to the middle rope and goes for his diving elbow drop but Shawn moves out of the way and Shawn is finally able to tag in Marty. Marty hits Bret with a flying elbow then a drop kick. Marty then hits Bret with a power slam off the irish whip. Marty throws Bret into the corner and follows him in. Marty goes for a clothesline but both men end up clotheslines each other. Marty hits Bret low with a punch then hits him with a high knee and goes for the pin and only gets a 2 count. Marty tags in Shawn and they go for a double clothesline but Bret dunks then they hit Bret with a double super kick. They go for the cover but Neidhart comes in and breaks it up. Shawn picks up Bret and hits him with a snap suplex.

Shawn goes up and over in the corner on Bret but Bret ends up nailing him with a clothesline. Both men are laid out but Bret gets the tag to Neidhart. Neidhart comes in and shoulder blocks Shawn then he irish whips Shawn into the ropes but he reverses it and Neidhart goes into the ropes. When doing this he knocks Bret off the apron and he goes into the guard rail. Neidhart goes out to check on Bret while the ref is counting down. The Rockers are looking down at the Hart Foundation and out come the Rougeau Brothers and they attack the Rockers from behind. The ref calls for the bell as the Rougeau’s lay in the boots to the Rockers. The Hart Foundation get back in the ring and they attack the Rougeau’s. All four men go after the Rougeau Brothers as we head back to Mooney in the Coliseum Video studio.

Recap:
This was a very entertaining match. Of course its nearly impossible for these 4 not to put on an entertaining match with each other. The finish was different as well and it was pretty cool to see all four men going after the Rougeau’s. I would definitely recommend checking out this match if you get the chance. Its fast paced and a lot of great action.

WWF Big Wheels Segment:

Lord Alfred talks about the semis and trucks that are used to drive the trucks around the United States all year. This is a waste of time and I am not going to review this part. If you really want to see it I am sure you can find this garbage on youtube.

Match 7: WWF Title Match: Hulk Hogan (c) vs. Mr. Perfect

Hogan gets in the ring and charges at Perfect but Perfect hightails it out of there as Hogan tears of his shirt and gets the crowd hyped. The match starts with a collar and elbow tie up. Recap:
What a great match this one was. Mr. Perfect was so good throughout the whole match. His selling is the best in the business and it wasn’t over done. It was just what he did and he did it better than anyone else. Hogan was Hogan but with the size difference made the match work. Perfect sold like a champ because of how much bigger Hogan is. Thats what made Perfect so great, he was able to make anyone look good at any time. It’s a shame his peak wasn’t longer than it was. It’s also a shame he couldn’t get out of his own way. I would definitely recommend checking out this match if you get the chance and appreciate the greatness that is Mr. Perfect in his prime.

Recap:
This was a pretty decent tag match on paper but it didn’t really deliver in the ring. It was a short match and it was probably done at the end of a TV taping so everyone can go home happy. There was a lot going on with this match and a lot of feuds featured in the match but it just didn’t go very long. Jake was in the ring the whole time and that kind of took away from the action if you ask me. It would have been better for them to exchange a few tags but once Jake got in he never got out. I would check out the match just for the star power involved but theres nothing to write home about.

Final Thoughts:
Overall, this was a pretty solid Coliseum Video from top to bottom. The action never let up and the really only poor match on this tape was the Hart Foundation vs. the Powers of Pain. There is a lot of star power throughout and you will be hard pressed to not find something you are entertained with. I would definitely recommend finding the Hulk Hogan vs. Mr. Perfect match so you can appreciate the greatness that is Mr. Perfect. The Harts vs. The Rockers was a fun match as well that is worth watching. All in a really good tape that I would recommend checking out if you ever get the chance.

Next Up:
The next feature on Coliseum Classics will be none other than Supertape Volume 1. We get the match inside the cage featuring Hulk Hogan/Brutus Beefcake vs. Macho King/Zeus. So be on the look out for that one hitting your tape stands in the near future.
